Our New Conductor for the Upcoming Fremont Chamber Orchestra Season
CANON CITY, Colo. - s4story -- The air is buzzing with sweet melodies over here at the Fremont Chamber Orchestra as we warmly welcome Gerald Willis, the creative force behind the Royal Gorge Philharmonic, to take up the conductor's baton for our upcoming season. This isn't just a hello, it's the beginning of a new musical chapter, filled with the promise of heartwarming tunes and community camaraderie.
Now, Gerry isn't just any conductor. With a musical journey that's taken him from coast to coast over four decades, he's shared the stage with everyone from young school bands to the dignitaries in Washington D.C. His recent gig as a music educator and conductor at California State University - Los Angeles, and his dream of bringing top-notch classical tunes to Cañon City, Colorado through the Royal Gorge Philharmonic, speaks volumes of his love for music and community.

And guess what? The musical plot thickens! Gerry's incredibly talented wife, Leslie Woodhull, a Juilliard School grad and a maestro with the violin, will be joining our violin section. Leslie has played her strings with the best of them, from The Los Angeles Philharmonic to sharing the stage with legends like Ray Charles. Their kind-hearted decision to volunteer their time with us is like hitting a high note that resonates through our quaint mountain town, nurturing the musical growth of our local volunteer musicians.
With the new conductor baton exchange, we've decided to shuffle our concert calendar a bit. Our next concert, initially set for this fall, is now moving to January 2024. This gives us some extra rehearsal bars to sync up with Gerry and Leslie, ensuring our Winter Concert is nothing short of magical.
We can't wait to share this musical adventure with all of you! So, mark your calendars for January, and stay tuned for more details on our website,
