DENVER - s4story -- We The 8, a new civic initiative promoting open, fair, and informed political dialogue, announces the launch of its inaugural debate series for the 2026 Colorado Governor's race. The series gives voters direct access to candidates' ideas in a transparent, respectful, and community-focused forum.
Two-Night Debate Event
The We The 8 debate will take place over two nights:
Each evening will feature four candidates, with the first four opening the series on Night 1.

Moderator & Organizer
The debates will be moderated by Dr. Abass Yaya Bamba, organizer of the We The 8 initiative. Dr. Bamba is a former political, legal, and human rights journalist, entrepreneur, and technology researcher. A long-time Colorado resident and civic advocate, he has committed his civic engagement locally and globally by creating platforms that strengthen democracy through dialogue, accountability, and leadership.
"Debates are not just about candidates," said Dr. Bamba. "They are about citizens having access to ideas, transparency, and the kind of public dialogue that keeps our democracy strong. We The 8 was created to serve that purpose."

We The 8 is a non-partisan civic initiative based in Denver, Colorado. Its mission is to provide fair, open, and accessible debate opportunities for candidates and voters alike, ensuring that public dialogue is guided by integrity, respect, and community values.

Two-Night Debate Event

- Night 2: Wednesday, October 8, 2025 — 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM (Virtual)
Each evening will feature four candidates, with the first four opening the series on Night 1.
Night 1 Candidates:
- David Hughes – Former teacher and small-business owner focused on education, family, and economic opportunity.
- Fatima Fernandez – Bilingual paralegal, mediator, and educator advocating for civic empowerment and access to justice.
- Jim Rundberg – U.S. Army veteran and business leader emphasizing homeownership, community safety, and economic growth.
- Jon Ginsberg – Technology entrepreneur and AI developer promoting innovation and an 18-point plan for Colorado's economic future.
