DETROIT - s4story -- Willie E. Brake, founder of All About Technology, has been selected as a member of Leadership Detroit Class 47, the Detroit Regional Chamber's flagship leadership program. Brake joins a cohort of more than 75 emerging and established leaders drawn from business, government, education, labor, media, and the nonprofit sector across the 11-county Southeast Michigan region.

Leadership Detroit, founded in 1979 and presented by The Kresge Foundation, has more than 2,500 alumni. Over a nine-month experience running from September 2026 through June 2027, class members get behind-the-scenes exposure to the region's biggest issues — from education and health to arts, mobility, and racial equity — and build the relationships and insight to drive positive change. The program is designed to challenge assumptions, broaden perspectives, and connect leaders to the institutions, industries, and communities that shape Detroit.

"Being selected is both an honor and a responsibility I take seriously," Brake said. "For 25 years I have worked in Detroit helping residents get connected, get their computers fixed, and get the skills to use them — from our corporate office on Second Avenue in Midtown to the Russell Industrial Center on Clay Avenue to our flagship street-level retail store on Michigan Avenue in Southwest Detroit. Leadership Detroit is a chance to see the whole city through the eyes of 75 people who lead in very different rooms than I do. My definition of success is not a certificate in June. It is walking out of Class 47 with a bigger Detroit than I walked in with, and bringing what I learn back to my students, my customers, and my neighborhood."

"We have intentionally brought together an exceptional cohort of established and emerging business and community leaders who bring diverse perspectives and connections to the Detroit Region for Leadership Detroit Class 47," said Dorian Grey, the Chamber's Senior Director of Leadership, Entrepreneurship and Innovation. "We will explore the Region, exposing participants to people, places, and projects they may not otherwise encounter, to deepen their understanding of the forces shaping and moving it. I look forward to seeing this class learn from and challenge one another, and form relationships and experiences to make an even greater impact across the Region and beyond."

Brake founded All About Technology in 2001. The company has maintained its corporate office at 2727 Second Avenue in Detroit since its founding and has operated its retail and service location at 6450 Michigan Avenue since December 2014, after earlier years inside the Russell Industrial Center at 1600 Clay Avenue. The certified disability-owned minority business enterprise has placed more than 100,000 computers, connected more than 40,000 households, and recycled more than 10 million pounds of electronics. In 2026 the company marked its 25th anniversary with proclamations from the City of Detroit, Wayne County, State of Michigan, U.S. House of Representatives and The White House, and Brake received the Spirit of Detroit Award and a Testimonial Resolution from Detroit City Council recognizing 25 years of digital inclusion work.

A serial entrepreneur, Brake is also the founder of MiAbiliTees, an apparel company whose mission includes bringing attention to people with disabilities and disability-owned business enterprises, and of Web Media Syndicate, an independent technology analysis and media company. He teaches business and computer technology at Wayne County Community College District and serves as executive director of the Center For Creative Arts (https://centerforcreativearts.org/), a nonprofit technology center. Class 47 begins with orientation September 16–18, 2026, and continues with monthly sessions on health and wellness, education and mentorship, media and artificial intelligence, mobility and innovation, small business and economic development, race and diversity, arts and culture, and public policy. The class graduates in June 2027.
