"A Woman in Love: Addiction" - Red-Hot Romance Considers Whether It's Love or Addiction
S For Story/10416287
BROOKLYN, N.Y. - s4story -- "A Woman in Love: Addiction" is an intimate novel that covers the bases in a love-hate relationship.
"You know you're gonna have to face it, you're addicted to love," goes the 1980s pop song, and love addiction has termed "a good thing gone bad – desire gone awry."
Author C. Dale Baldwin says, "All I can do is sit and wait, as my obsession won't let me leave and I continue to crave him. He makes my body sing; his lovemaking is superlative. My desire for his complete love is so strong. I can't control my desire for him even when I hate him. His touch thrills me so, yet his attitude and disposition elude me."
While love addiction is a controversial term for mental health professionals, experiencing obsessive compulsion toward a loved one is common, and it can easily become a defense mechanism against psychological pain. Love addicts believe their lover can make them feel better because they have a low opinion of themselves.
As the author says, "I am inspired by the ups and downs of relations and marriages that I've been exposed to from friends and family as well as my own. I want to show that love is a complicated thing and that it isn't always pure, true, or good. All I want is for it to be true, honest, and devoted. Then I ask myself: Is this love or addiction?"
