FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Wrigglebrew awarded $1.2 M research grant from the National Science Foundation
Orlando, FL July 16, 2025 – Wrigglebrew, an Orlando FL based company founded in 2022, manufactures OMRI listed organic liquid fertilizer made from worm castings, chitin, mycorrhizae and rhizobacteria. Wrigglebrew organic fertilizer is highly effective at helping all types of plants thrive, while being safe for people, pets, pollinators and water sources (will not cause red tide).
Wrigglebrew has been working on a number of initiatives related to the production of organic liquid fertilizer that will allow the company to be even more environmentally responsible and vertically integrated – including building their own worm farm, refining their patented process for breaking down plastic waste that can be consumed by worms (along with food waste), and breeding their own microbes.
More on S For Story
The National Science Foundation recently awarded Wrigglebrew a $1.2 M research grant for the continued development of their organic fertilizer, specifically their patented process for collecting and breaking down plastic waste (plastic bags, Styrofoam…) which makes the plastic safe to feed to worms – keeping plastic waste out of landfills and eliminating microplastics. Wrigglebrew intends to use this grant to purchase equipment, conduct additional research and testing, and expand production capacity. "We're honored to receive this grant from the NSF as we continue on our journey to offer the safest, most effective, and most environmentally responsible fertilizer on the market" said Sam Baker, Wrigglebrew CEO.
The National Science Foundation (NSF) is an independent agency of the US Federal Government that supports fundamental research and education in all the non-medical fields of science and engineering.
