Aerostratospheric Announces xSatellite Flight Layer And September 12 x1Albatross Engineering Test
S For Story/10702127
Aerostratospheric will conduct a private lift and procedural test of the x1Albatross platform on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from the Casey, Illinois operations area.
CASEY, Ill. - s4story -- xSATELLITE
xSatellite is Aerostratospheric's satellite layer for tracking, downlink, and space-weather context on the flight stack. It is not an orbital spacecraft. It is the communications and space-weather layer that rides with Aerostratospheric payloads so position and context are not limited to a single terrestrial path.
xSatellite is part of the company's published architecture alongside xFall2, xLiveFlights, and Unified Open Global Weather (UOGW). Saturday's test is not a public demonstration of that layer.
x1ALBATROSS
x1Albatross is Aerostratospheric's mid-altitude host, sized with a smaller helium balloon for jetstream equilibrium and multi-day drift on later flights. Core system mass is about 1.01 lb.
More on S For Story
The September 12 flight is only a lift and procedural test of that platform. It is not a circumnavigation attempt, not a multi-day endurance mission, and not the public data flight.
WHAT SATURDAY IS — AND IS NOT
Is: private pad work. Balloon lift. Procedure. Checklist. Recovery practice.
Is not: a public event. A media day. The X2Griffon maiden science flight. That public window remains September 19, 2026, in the Casey area, weather permitting, under FAA Part 101.
PUBLIC INFORMATION
Because September 12 is a private launch, Aerostratospheric is not publishing a pad time, spectator guidance, or a live-follow invitation for this test. Any later note will come through aerostratospheric.com after the team is off the field.
The next public science flight on the calendar is X2Griffon on September 19, 2026.
