Allumetis Launches Gate to Protect Windows Servers From Authentication Attacks
S For Story/10700530
New on-premises security solution detects authentication attacks across Exchange, IIS and Windows environments and automatically blocks malicious IP addresses, with additional capabilities under development.
TORONTO - s4story -- Allumetis today announced Allumetis Gate, a new on-premises security solution designed to help organizations detect and stop authentication attacks against Windows servers. Gate is initially focused on Exchange and other Internet-facing services where brute-force attacks, password spraying and repeated authentication failures can lead to account lockouts and security incidents.
Allumetis Gate monitors supported authentication and protocol logs and can automatically block offending IP addresses using Windows Firewall. Its initial capabilities are particularly suited to organizations experiencing repeated SMTP authentication failures and other automated login attempts, allowing security teams to respond automatically rather than manually investigating every source.

Gate is being developed around a broader architecture that can collect security information from multiple sources. Planned detection capabilities include Windows Security Event Logs, IIS and web application activity, allowing Gate to expand beyond individual protocols and provide a broader view of authentication activity occurring across a Windows server.
The platform is also designed to combine authentication activity with additional security intelligence. Geographic IP information can be used in security policies, while integration with publicly available IP block lists and IP reputation services is being developed. This additional context can help distinguish isolated authentication failures from sustained malicious activity.
Different network environments require different enforcement methods. Servers may receive connections directly from the Internet or through reverse proxies and load balancers. Allumetis is developing an IIS integration that can enforce Gate decisions within the web request pipeline, including deployments where trusted forwarding information such as X-Forwarded-For identifies the original client.

Allumetis Gate is being introduced incrementally, with additional detection sources, intelligence integrations and enforcement capabilities being added as development continues. The product is built around a simple model: detect activity, evaluate the threat, and enforce the appropriate security policy.
