WEST ORANGE, N.J. - s4story -- Anna D. Banks, a member of the Rotary Club of West Orange, Rotary District 7475 Public Image Committee Chair and author of the Amazon bestseller The Wealth You Carry™: Turn What You Know Into What Comes Next, joined fellow Rotarians on Friday, September 25, in welcoming young cultural ambassadors from Plungė, Lithuania.

The visit took place during Rotary's Basic Education and Literacy Month, demonstrating how education extends beyond books and classrooms to include culture, history, traditions and shared experiences.

The delegation visited through the Rotary Children's Fund International Youth Cultural Exchange Program, coordinated by Vitaliy Bezrodnov. The program gives young people opportunities to experience American history and culture while sharing the heritage of their own countries.

Dressed in traditional Lithuanian attire, the young ambassadors shared the culture of Plungė through folk dance and conversation, giving Rotarians an opportunity to learn directly from another generation and culture.

For Banks, whose book encourages people to recognize the value of the knowledge, experience, relationships and wisdom they have accumulated, the exchange reflected a similar principle: everyone carries something worth sharing.

"Education is not only about what we learn from a book," Banks said. "We learn from people, cultures, experiences and generations. These young people came from Lithuania carrying their history and traditions, and they gave us an opportunity to learn from them."

The September 25 program connected Basic Education and Literacy with Rotary's commitment to International Service and its goal of advancing international understanding, goodwill and peace. By-Laws - 2019

For Banks, the experience reinforced a message connecting her professional work and Rotary service: knowledge becomes more valuable when we share it, and understanding grows when we are willing to learn from one another.
