NEW YORK - s4story -- BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center presents barkha dance co. presents icchā September 25–26 at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $40 General Admission.

Inspired by Hindu philosophy, icchā explores ancestral desire through kathak, original music, film, set design, and Gujarati folk form garba. Created and performed by Barkha Patel, the interdisciplinary solo work follows a daughter visited by her maternal ancestors in a dream and asked to express, release, and fulfill their unfulfilled desires.

The work explores the body as a site of ancestral history, asking what unfinished longings may live within us and how we might honor them.

Patel is a touring kathak artist, choreographer, educator, and Artistic Director of Barkha Dance Company. Her work has been presented at Jacob's Pillow, Little Island, 92Y, and Chelsea Factory. She is a 2024 Princess Grace Dance Award recipient, 2023 Juried Bessie Award recipient, and former Harlem Stage WaterWorks Fellow.

The residency is part of the CUNY Dance Initiative (CDI), which supports artists through residencies at CUNY performing arts centers.
