SAN DIEGO - s4story -- As scientists track marine heatwaves and conditions favorable to harmful algal blooms along the West Coast, the ocean crisis at the center of Blue Planet – Red Tide feels especially timely.

NOAA reported in August that scientists are tracking two large marine heatwaves in the Northeast Pacific, including one near central and Southern California. NOAA also noted a higher-than-usual likelihood of harmful algal blooms and domoic acid production in Southern California waters.
