New Children's Picture Book "Tippy Tay" Explores the Dangers of Peer Pressure and the Importance of
S For Story/10705924
Elaine Knotts's children's picture book draws on her observations of a backyard chipmunk to tell a valuable story about listening to parents, true friendship, and the courage to be yourself.
WASHINGTON, Pa. - s4story -- A daring young chipmunk, a busy road, and a risky challenge set the stage for Elaine Knotts's children's picture book, Tippy Tay, now available on Amazon.
The story follows Tippy Tay, a frisky and furry little chipmunk who loves being the neighborhood daredevil. When school lets out and the nearby road fills with kids riding bikes, Mother Chipmunk warns Tippy to carefully watch for traffic. However, Tippy's older friend Pete, known as a ringleader, dares him to run across the road right in front of a speeding bicycle. Wanting to fit in with the "big guys," Tippy accepts the challenge, but a second, unseen bike catches his tail in its spokes, leaving him injured.

As Tippy recovers in the Woodland Animal Hospital, he admits he wanted to fit in so badly that he forgot to make the right choice. Pete also learns a valuable lesson, realizing he needs to stop acting like a "tough guy" and just be a supportive friend. The book closes with a "What If..." section, offering interactive discussion questions and a reference to John 3:16 to help young readers reflect on Tippy's choices and their own decision-making.
"From now on, I want to be liked for who I am," the book notes — the same message Knotts hopes children walk away with after reading about the consequences of giving in to peer pressure.
Knotts has said the story pulls from her daily inspiration of watching a little chipmunk in her own backyard. The book is dedicated to the Lord, with the hope that the story's lessons will touch the hearts of children and stay with them for years to come.
