Celebrate National Coloring Book Day: Color Your Way to Improved Mental Health

LAS VEGAS - s4story -- On August 2nd, artists of all ages will celebrate National Coloring Book Day.
What is National Coloring Book Day?
National Coloring Book Day was created in 2015 by Dover Publications to celebrate the joy coloring brings to people of all ages. While coloring books began as an activity for children, their popularity quickly grew as adults recognized the benefits of coloring for themselves.
"Burnout, anxiety, overwhelm, and depression are so prevalent in today's society," says Sheryl Green, creator of the "You Had Me At No: Color Your Way to Healthy Boundaries" coloring book. "Coloring offers a brief respite from the stress of everyday life."
Benefits of Coloring
Coloring is a cathartic exercise that improves emotional and mental well-being. Meditation isn't for everyone. Sitting alone, trying to focus on nothing, can be incredibly frustrating for many. Coloring to the rescue! Coloring is a therapeutic activity that calms your brain and helps you relax. When you color a complex structure, it can even put your mind into a meditative state. Coloring also improves focus, fosters creativity, and can create a sense of community.

"A coloring book was the perfect way to re-enforce the messages in my book, You Had Me At No: How Setting Healthy Boundaries Helps Banish Burnout, Repair Relationships, and Save Your Sanity," says Green, "while providing another method of self-care for readers."
Individuals and businesses can both benefit from celebrating National Coloring Book Day. Potential ideas are to donate coloring books to local hospitals, schools, or community centers, organize a coloring contest, or provide coloring books for your employees to destress on breaks.
