BOULDER ~ Boulder, Colorado - In the wake of a targeted attack on the Jewish community in Boulder, Governor Jared Polis has released a statement condemning the heinous act and expressing his support for the victims and their families. The governor continues to closely monitor the situation as it unfolds.
The attack, which occurred this afternoon, left several individuals injured. Governor Polis expressed his sympathy for those who were hurt and praised the first responders who quickly arrived on the scene to provide medical attention and apprehend the suspect.
In his statement, Governor Polis also acknowledged that this attack comes at a time when the Jewish community is still reeling from recent antisemitic murders in Washington D.C. He called for unity and strength in the face of hate, stating that "Boulder is strong" and that they will get through this together as a community.
The suspect, identified as Mohammed Sabry Soliman, is currently in custody. The Boulder Office of Disaster Management (ODM) has activated its emergency operations center in response to the incident and is providing updates on their website at boulderodm.gov/. The governor has offered any support that may be needed from the state, including State Patrol presence at the command post and assistance from the Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management.
