DURHAM, N.C. - s4story -- Study Shows Couples Crave Connection: Better Marriages NC Responds with Community-Based Marriage Enrichment Support
New APA research underscores urgent need for relationship support — local nonprofit responds with empowering weekend event for couples
Durham, NC — Better Marriages North Carolina is responding to new findings from the American Psychological Association showing couples increasingly seek deeper connection and better communication. On September 20–21, 2025, the organization will host The Four Seasons of Life and Love, a transformative marriage enrichment retreat in the Raleigh-Durham area.
Led by nationally recognized facilitators and authors Michael and Myra Holmes (Fighting for Your Military Marriage), the weekend offers a unique opportunity for couples to reconnect, grow, and rediscover joy in their relationship — all in a safe, supportive environment.
More on S For Story
Couples will engage in dynamic exercises, learn research-backed communication strategies, and gain insights into building a stronger emotional and physical bond. First-time attendees will receive a special discount.
"This isn't counseling — it's proactive, joyful enrichment," says Doug Murray, President, Better Marriages North Carolina / Association for Couples in Marriage Enrichment NC Inc. "Couples will leave smiling, with tools that last far beyond the weekend."
