Dermer Dreams Calls for National Food Drive on November 22, 2025
S For Story/10677375
Nonprofit continues its mission to support families facing food insecurity across the United States
FAIR HAVEN, N.J. - s4story -- Dermer Dreams, the New Jersey-based nonprofit known for empowering youth to fight hunger, is calling on communities nationwide to participate in a National Food Drive on Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Individuals who are able to donate are encouraged to bring non-perishable food to their local food bank.
This national call comes as many families face increased pressure on household budgets and continued uncertainty surrounding SNAP benefits. Food banks across the country are reporting significantly higher demand and are seeking additional support to meet the need in their communities.
The effort follows the success of the organization's 100-Yard Food Drive Challenge, held on October 26 at Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School in New Jersey. More than 1,000 students from across the state participated, filling an entire football field with donated food and collecting over 200,000 pounds, which has since been distributed to local food banks.

In a recent appearance on CNN This Morning with Audie Cornish, Founder and CEO Dan Dermer announced that the initiative would expand nationwide.
"This is a moment for all of us to come together," said Dermer. "There are families who need support right now. If you are able, please bring a bag of food to your local food bank on November 22. It does not need to be much. If we all give a little, it will make a real difference."
The Dermer Dreams National Food Drive Challenge encourages donations of shelf-stable items such as canned vegetables, soups, pasta, peanut butter, rice, and cereal. A list of suggested items and a directory of local food banks will be available at www.dermerdreams.org.
Dermer emphasized that the initiative is community-driven and non-political. "This is simply neighbors helping neighbors," he said. "Every community has families who could use support, and every food bank plays a critical role."
