"I Did My Best" Encourages Insights from Young, Imaginative Readers
S For Story/10507014
The poetic voice of author Cheryl Babirad frames the adventures of kindergartener Jennifer Ella Rose in new children's series
BABYLON, N.Y. - s4story -- Following her thirty-nine years as an educator in Long Island, New York, author Cheryl Babirad shares the insights of her former students through her new work, I Did My Best (TouchPoint Press, October 29, 2021). As the first installment of the Jennifer Ella Rose Series, I Did My Best introduces young readers to character Jennifer Ella Rose right as she prepares to tackle her first year of kindergarten and build friendships upon foundations of creativity, curiosity, and imagination.
Babirad found it essential to write Jennifer's journey through the kindergartener's perspective. "I felt that because children, specifically kindergarten children, are more honest, accepting of others generally, observant, creative, imaginative, positive, it would behoove the world to take a lesson from their innocence," Babirad explains. By focusing on the lessons her students have taught her— namely, how to listen, recognize, and accept each other— Babirad hopes that I Did My Best will teach all readers that the key to staying patient, making new friends, and braving difficult challenges is through always trying their best.
