WASHINGTON - s4story -- Dr. Clayton Lawrence recently was recognized as a 2019 Top 100 MBE® award winner at the Capital Region Minority Supplier Development Council's 38th Annual Leaders and Legends Awards Ceremony. Held Oct. 3 at the MGM National Harbor, Oxon Hill, Md., the evening honors recipients of the award, which recognizes owners of minority business enterprises in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia who have demonstrated exceptional entrepreneurial accomplishments, a high level of professionalism, and have made substantial contributions to their community.
"It was an incredible honor to be named a Top 100 MBE award winner," Dr. Lawrence said. "As the owner of a business that provides critical healthcare services to our veterans and also as the founder of a nonprofit that provides opportunities for the underserved and overlooked, we strive not only to make a difference on a daily basis, but to change the future in positive ways. As entrepreneurs, we never stop evaluating, measuring and adapting to the needs of our recipients of service."
The ceremony brought together an outstanding group of awardees that, through individual efforts, have been recognized as the forces behind thriving economies and communities. Dr. Lawrence believes that it is when the missions become collective that the future is uplifted to new heights.

Dr. Lawrence is the President and CEO of LEAP LLC, which, since 2007, has been ensuring that quality, affordable healthcare is attainable for active duty, veteran and civilian patients. Through its partner nonprofit organization, LEAP Foundation DC, Dr. Lawrence works to address the unmet social and health needs of the people of the District of Columbia and surrounding communities.
"The root system of both the LLC and the Foundation is built upon strengthening health, disease prevention, and mitigating childhood obesity," Dr. Lawrence said. "We are driven to do what we can to advocate, find cures, fundraise and educate, while eliminating the challenges that are at the forefront of the lives of today's youth. Our mission-driven approach to both changing the face of healthcare and the course of a child's life means that tomorrow will be healthier, brighter and more promising not only for our nation, but on an international scale, as well."
The endurance runner has now completed 118 marathons and many of the races have served as opportunities to expand his local and national missions to an international scale. A recent trip to Berlin, Germany, presented a chance to participate in one of the world's largest races, the Berlin Marathon, as well as assist in the fundraising efforts of nonprofit organization Smile Train.
"We will continue to strive for excellence and promise to demonstrate exceptional accomplishments, a high level of professionalism and contributions to the community that will have a lasting impact for years to come," Dr. Lawrence said.
