Shourabh Mukherji, curator, applies his experiences of both Eastern and Western cultures in his work and molds them into an imaginative dimension through Cubism. The colors are bold and vibrant with much influence from past artists such as Pablo Picasso, Francis Newton Souza and M.F. Hussain. The themes revolve around romance, spirituality and desires - all of which the artist considers essential to life. In his recent paintings Shourabh gravitates towards sculptural forms depicting human figures in relationships. He has termed this as "Sculptural Love." Shourabh has exhibited his art across the USA and is an active member at The Center for Contemporary Art.
On view will also be, Counterpoint: Artists from The Arts Access Program at Matheny. Eileen Murray, Director of The Arts Access Program explains, "For more than 25 years, The Matheny Arts Access Program has been empowering artists with disabilities to create art without limits.
Through the use of innovative systems and techniques, artists can take part in the visual, performing, and literary arts. Regardless of their disabilities, artists are provided with the tools and materials needed to produce complete pieces of work that are distinctly their own."
