L. J. Greatrex began her career with General Electric and progressed through to the financial sector of the steel industry, spending the most recent years with a classic car parts company.

Over many years travelling the globe with family and friends, the ideas for her books developed and are used in the Fantastic Happy Tales stories, her Hackers series of thriller novels as well as A Penny's Eye View which is a collection of short tales about a penny which moves through the hands of various people and subtly reveals the complex lives of the people who possess it.
