BURLESON, Texas - s4story -- Debut Novelist Timothy C. Williams Launches "The Listening Field," a First-Contact Science Fiction Novel Where Gravity Is Paying Attention
Book One of The Gravity Accords trilogy - now available on Amazon in Kindle, softcover, and hardcover
BURLESON, TX, March 3, 2026 - Hydor® Publishing today announced the release of The Listening Field, a contemplative hard science fiction novel by debut author Timothy C. Williams, available on Amazon as a Kindle eBook ($7.99), softcover ($16.99), and hardcover ($24.99). The softcover is also available through Ingram Spark for independent bookstore and library ordering (ISBN 979-8-234-02041-3).
Set in the mid-22nd century, the novel follows Dr. Davis Solís, a gravitational physicist appointed as humanity's first Gravity Envoy to a research station at the Earth-Moon L4 Lagrange point. Over twelve months, he discovers that gravitational oscillations in the outer solar system are not random: they respond to music, decline to act on unmanned platforms, and calibrate individually to each person who addresses them — and have been paying attention for considerably longer than anyone has been paying attention back.

Combining rigorous gravitational physics with theological depth, The Listening Field moves at the pace of deep listening. Ideal for readers of Ted Chiang's Story of Your Life and Others, C.S. Lewis's Space Trilogy, and Mary Doria Russell's The Sparrow.
"I wrote this book for anyone who has stood at a harbor and felt something they could not name," said Williams.
"The Listening Field is about what happens when a scientist discovers that the feeling was not one-sided."
Williams has spent more than 25 years in finance and energy and is the author of Mr. Hydrogen® - Guardian of Clean Energy (2024). The Listening Field was written in Christchurch, New Zealand. The trilogy continues with The Weight of the Asking, forthcoming.
