Free Admission for Veterans at National Museum of Transportation on Veterans Day
S For Story/10705442
ST. LOUIS - s4story -- The National Museum of Transportation will honor the men and women who have served our country by offering FREE admission to veterans on Veterans Day, Wednesday, November 11, 2026.
For many veterans, a visit to The National Museum of Transportation is more than a journey through transportation history—it is a journey through their own personal history. Throughout the Museum's collection, aircraft, trains, and vehicles may stir powerful memories of military service, from training and deployments to long-awaited homecomings. Each familiar piece of history has the potential to reconnect veterans with meaningful moments and cherished friendships with the men and women who served alongside them.
Among the Museum's significant military aircraft on display is the F/A-18 E1 Super Hornet — the very first Super Hornet ever built. The aircraft represents an important chapter in American aviation history and the extraordinary contributions of the men and women who designed, engineered, built, tested, maintained and flew these aircraft. E1 is on loan from the National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, Florida.

The Museum is also home to a historic C-47 transport aircraft, an aircraft type that played a critical role during World War II. The Museum's C-47 carried troops and supplies in Europe following D-Day.
Visitors can also see the Museum's T-33 jet trainer, representative of the aircraft used to train generations of military pilots.
Beyond its aviation collection, the Museum preserves trains, buses, automobiles and other vehicles that tell another important part of the story of military service. For generations, transportation connected American servicemen and women with their next assignment — carrying them away from their families as they departed for service and, in happier moments, bringing them home again.
"Transportation has always been intertwined with the story of those who serve our country," said Terri McEachern, Executive Director of The National Museum of Transportation. "On Veterans Day, we hope veterans will visit, see something familiar, share a story with their families and know how deeply grateful we are for their service and sacrifice."
Veterans receive free Museum admission on Wednesday, November 11, 2026. Regular admission rates apply to accompanying guests.
