MILWAUKEE - s4story -- Milwaukee youth and families are invited to a free day of literacy, technology, empowerment and community connection at Together We Create 4 Kids & Raising Our Village – A Literacy & Empowerment Experience, Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at North Division High School, 1011 W. Center Street, Milwaukee.

Held during National Literacy Month, the event is expected to welcome approximately 400–500 youth, families and community members under the theme "Find Your Voice. Own Your Story. Through Literacy."

The event is designed to show young people that literacy reaches far beyond reading books. Through interactive experiences, youth will explore the connection between literacy and technology, financial knowledge, entrepreneurship, communication, creativity, confidence, career exploration and leadership.

A signature Literacy Village will feature youth authors, storytelling, read-aloud experiences, literacy activities and free children's books. Youth can also participate in hands-on experiences involving drone technology, children's book authorship, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, public speaking, Tae Kwon Do, majorette dance, drumline, leadership, confidence building and career exploration.

Through a technology partnership, 500 laptops have been committed to support digital access. Interested individuals must complete the designated interest and eligibility process, and laptop availability is not guaranteed.

Families will also be connected with educational, literacy, food, family and community resources through a Community Resource Village, where participating organizations will focus exclusively on providing services, information and opportunities rather than selling products.

The event is supported by a broad collaboration of Milwaukee-area organizations and sponsors, including the City of Milwaukee – Office of Early Childhood Initiatives, Greater Milwaukee Foundation, Educators Credit Union, Domnitz & Domnitz, S.C. Law, Giving Circle MKE, Britestar Christian Virtual Education, Raising Our Village, Generation of Excellence, Next Door Foundation, North Division High School and numerous community partners.
