The first black actress to play the lead role in a significant foreign film was Josephine Baker in 1934's "Zouzou." Baker produced a total of four movies for international release. She devoted much of her very public life to promoting an integrated society in which everyone is respected, regardless of color, religion, or sexual orientation. Baker was a fantastic mother to a diverse group of children called the "Rainbow Tribe".

The LMJC organizing committee is joining Chef Ashbell to work to bring about real, positive change for young creative artists. Together, they are opening the first La Maison Joséphine Baker Republic of Creative Possibilities Center, for aspiring worldwide youth leaders, and creating new narratives. .

This petition asks the 95th Oscars' Board of Governors, Creative Team, Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner of White Cherry Entertainment, as well as the Board's Awards Committee, to create a unique Oscars homage to Josephine Baker, who well deserves it.
