Governor Abbott Appoints University Student Regents, Representative To Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board

~ Governor Greg Abbott has recently announced the appointment of eight student regents to various universities in Texas, effective June 1, 2025. These appointments will be for a term of one year, expiring on May 31, 2026. In addition, a student representative has been appointed to serve on the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board for the same term.
Among the newly appointed student regents is Jaquavous Doucette from Fort Worth, originally from Orlando, Florida. Doucette is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications at Prairie View A&M University. Another appointee is Kohl Crawford from Garland, who is studying Political Science at Texas Southern University.
Donavan Brown from San Marcos has been appointed as a student regent for the Texas State University System. Brown is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science at Texas State University. Eli Heath from Lubbock has been appointed as a student regent for the Texas Tech University System and is currently studying Chemical Engineering at Texas Tech University.

Alyssa Flores from Fort Worth has received her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Texas Woman's University (TWU) and is now pursuing a Doctor of Physical Therapy at TWU. Adrian Caraves from Galveston has been appointed as a student regent for the University of Houston System. Caraves holds an Associate of Science degree from College of the Mainland and a Bachelor of Science in Health from the University of Houston. He is now pursuing a Master of Business Administration and Master of Healthcare Administration at UH-Clear Lake.
