D.L. Sloat, the author of the Chuck Cory Story trilogy, finds inspiration from his experience as an educator and parent. He has transformed the sportsbook genre by subtly introducing universal themes that teenagers often explore in their ELA classes and their personal lives. Hardwood Hacker primarily tackles bullying, friendship, and discrimination. It's a great addition to any middle school or town library, as well as any personal collection. also holds a soft spot in his heart for reluctant readers. He initially wrote Hardwood Hacker for his son, who much like Chuck, can usually be found kicking or throwing his sports balls outside and inside the house.
