How and Why Media Should Get Fauci to Testify
S For Story/10698981
Critics and Supporters on All Sides, and the Public, Need His Answers
WASHINGTON - s4story -- Those in the media critical of Dr. Anthony Fauci are very upset that he refused to answer any questions, even though he was only following the advice of his lawyers.
Those in the media who tend to support Fauci are trying to show that the hearing was so unfair that he was unable to fairly defend himself and the many actions he took with regard to the epidemic; so, as a result, the public will never learn the truth (or at least his version) about what happened.
Since many legal scholars argue that Congress will not be successful in attempts to compel him to testify, the media should do whatever it can to not only encourage him to answer questions, but to make it possible for him to do so fairly and unencumbered by threats of perjury.
Perhaps the best way this could be accomplished would be for one or more major TV networks or Internet cable news channels to offer the doctor a block of time in which he would answer the most important questions put to him at the Senate hearing live in real time and without any interruptions.

It would of course be very difficult for him to refuse to participate because he could not use as excuses any fear of being cited for perjury (since he would not be under oath), nor that there might be embarrassing unfair questions thrown at him in response to any answer (a legitimate fear were he to testify again before a congressional committee dominated by Republicans).
If Fauci did refuse to participate, and answer the same tough questions put to him at the hearing, it would very seriously undercut his position, lend great concordance to the accusations being made against him, and make it very difficult for his supporters in the media and elsewhere to continue to defend him.
Making such an offer of broadcast time as described above would be a tremendous public service regarding a very important literally life-and-death controversy, and would earn the gratitude of most members of the public who remain confused about what happened.

It is also important that public officials, as well as members of the public, find out as much as possible about what happened, so that we can and should learn from any mistakes which were made.
Dr. Fauci's answers would be invaluable in understanding what happened and why; although it would not necessarily be the final definitive word since his opponents would remain free to use existing documents (including his diary), as well as the testimony of other witnesses, to refute any of his claims as to which there is any doubt.
