Jacksonville Children's Chorus Invited to 2027 International Children's Choir Festival

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - s4story -- JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Children's Chorus (JCC) will travel to England July 6–14, 2027, to participate in the International Children's Choir Festival, with performances and musical experiences in London, Canterbury and Rochester.

The Touring Choir will join young singers from other participating choirs for rehearsals, workshops and performances throughout the festival. Highlights will include concerts at Canterbury Cathedral and Rochester Cathedral, rehearsals at The King's School in Canterbury, and a masterclass with internationally recognized British composer and conductor Bob Chilcott.

Monday, July 12, 2027 – Noonday Concert, Canterbury Cathedral

Monday, July 12, 2027 – Evensong, Rochester Cathedral

Tuesday, July 13, 2027 – Festival Concert, Rochester Cathedral

In addition to their performances, JCC singers will experience some of England's historic and cultural landmarks, including Leeds Castle, Canterbury and Rochester. While in London, the singers will also attend a West End performance before traveling to Kent for the festival's Canterbury and Rochester activities.

The festival repertoire will feature works representing a range of musical styles and traditions, including selections by Bob Chilcott, Reena Esmail, Orlando Gibbons, Henry Purcell, Sarah Quartel and Will Todd.

About the Jacksonville Children's Chorus

Founded in 1995 with just 16 singers, the Jacksonville Children's Chorus provides exceptional music education for children of diverse backgrounds, creating impactful choral performances. The JCC has grown into one of the nation's leading providers of high-quality choral music education, inspiring excellence in young singers and enriching audiences worldwide.

The Touring Choir is JCC's premier ensemble for advanced singers ages 12–18. Performing a challenging repertoire, the group tours locally, nationally and internationally. Highlights include performances at St. Mark's Basilica in Venice, St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City, where they made history in 2023 as the first non-New York-based choir invited to perform in the annual Christmas program, and with the Corfu Children's Choir in Corfu, Greece.
