JOHNSON CITY, N.Y. - s4story -- Tim Smith, owner of American & Import Auto Repair in Johnson City, TN, recently traveled to Nashville for a national conference bringing together auto repair shop owners from across the country.

The event focused on how shops can better serve their customers in a fast-changing industry. Sessions covered how AI tools are starting to show up in the repair business, how to work on the newest vehicle technology, and ways shops can build more trust with the people who walk through their doors.

For Tim Smith, an ASE certified master technician with 30 years in the trade, the trip was a chance to compare notes with other shop owners and bring fresh ideas back to Johnson City.

"You can't stand still in this business," Smith said. "Cars change every year, and the way customers want to be treated changes too. I go to conferences like this so my shop stays sharp on both."
