Leaping Cat Creative Takes Shape Around the Problems Nobody Quite Owns
S For Story/10702562
Beaufort, North Carolina company brings software, electronics, automation, prototyping, infrastructure, and physical design together to tackle difficult technical problems that do not fit neatly into a single category.
BEAUFORT, N.C. - s4story -- BEAUFORT, N.C. — Most technical problems arrive with a label: software problem, electrical problem, automation problem, infrastructure problem, product problem. Some of the most interesting ones do not.
Leaping Cat Creative is being built for those.
Based in Beaufort, North Carolina, Leaping Cat Creative helps businesses, organizations, and individuals figure out difficult technical problems and turn them into practical solutions. The company works across software, cloud infrastructure, automation, electronics, embedded systems, systems integration, prototyping, data, physical design, and fabrication.
Rather than starting with a predefined service, the goal is to understand what is actually getting in the way.

"There is a whole class of problems that gets stuck because it falls between existing products, departments, technologies, vendors, or areas of expertise," said founder Jamie Starling. "Those are exactly the kinds of problems I find interesting. I want to understand the problem and figure out the right next step."
That next step might be a prototype, proof of concept, small automation, technical assessment, specialized device, or a connection between systems that were never designed to work together. The objective is to reduce uncertainty and solve the problem without forcing it into the wrong category.
Leaping Cat Creative grows out of Starling's more than 20 years of work across enterprise technology, cloud infrastructure, automation, software, systems engineering, networking, electronics, and technical leadership.
"Some problems become difficult because solving them requires somebody to look across the entire system," Starling said. "The software person sees software. The vendor sees their product. Sometimes what is missing is somebody willing to own the question itself."

The company is also developing its own technical products, including Leaping Cat Model Maker and Leaping Cat Model Effects. Those projects follow the same approach: start with a real problem, understand the larger system, and build the missing piece.
Leaping Cat Creative is particularly interested in conversations that begin with:
"I'm not even sure who I would call about this."
Its guiding principle is:
Do work that leaves people with more agency than they had before.
Leaping Cat Creative is based in Beaufort, North Carolina, and works with clients and collaborators locally and beyond.
Bring us the idea, the problem, or the thing nobody quite knows how to build.
