Many Rivers Community Acupuncture Celebrates 15th Anniversary

S For Story/10699637
BLOOMFIELD, Conn. - s4story -- Fifteen years ago, Many Rivers Community Acupuncture was founded with a simple mission: to make acupuncture affordable and accessible.  Since then, Many Rivers has provided over 99,000 acupuncture treatments on a "pay-what-you-can" sliding scale.

"We are incredibly proud of our efforts to make healthcare affordable for the past fifteen years," said Many Rivers' founder, Carrie Sawtell, L.Ac., C.SMA.  "We remain committed to providing low-cost, compassionate care for all."

People often seek treatment at Many Rivers when other, more conventional treatments have failed them.  "People say that acupuncture was their last resort, and then they realize that they wish they had tried it first," said Many Rivers' acupuncturist, Mary Cole, L.Ac.  "That's why it's important that acupuncture doesn't break the bank, because people have already spent so much money on copays and doctor bills."

Many Rivers provides treatment for a multitude of issues, including arthritis pain, sports injuries, anxiety, depression, insomnia, digestive issues, gynecological issues, and allergies.

The community treatment room allows family members and caregivers to receive treatment together.  The acupuncturists often treat cancer patients along with their caregivers, and parents along with their children.  "We've had three generations of the same family in our treatment room at the same time," said Sawtell.  "Healing together, side-by-side, is enormously powerful."

In addition to supporting the health of the community through acupuncture, Many Rivers has also striven to be a charitable force in Hartford County.  Harnessing the power of its vast network of patients, Many Rivers conducts donation drives regularly, for charities such as The Chrysalis Center, The Brain Injury Alliance of Connecticut, and for Afghan refugees relocating to Connecticut. In addition, each year since inception, they have held a food drive for the Bloomfield and Windsor Food Banks.
