Martinez Announces Donations to Local Nonprofits Following Conclusion of Campaign Finance Matter

Campaign to Donate Remaining Funds and Equivalent Travel Benefits While Reaffirming Commitment to Transparency and Accountability.
ANCHORAGE, Alaska - s4story -- Back in February, two expenditures from the Martinez campaign were challenged before APOC. Following its review, the Commission found that the expenditures had been accurately reported and dismissed the allegation that they were not properly disclosed.
While Martinez respectfully disagrees with the Commission's remaining finding regarding the nature of the expenditures, he accepts the decision and will comply fully with its requirements.
To eliminate any lingering question regarding incidental travel-related benefits that became a focus of the complaint, Martinez announced that he will donate an equivalent amount to a local nonprofit organization.

In addition, the campaign intends to donate its remaining balance in accordance with Alaska campaign finance law.
"This campaign was built on transparency, accountability, and responsible stewardship of donor resources," Martinez said. "We were significantly outspent, increased voter support, achieved a successful result, and concluded the campaign with resources still available to benefit the community. I believe the best way to close this chapter is to ensure those resources continue serving a public purpose."
The campaign began with approximately $5,000 remaining from the 2023 election cycle and will conclude with more than $5,000 remaining in the campaign account.
Martinez thanked supporters, volunteers, and donors for their trust throughout the campaign and reaffirmed his commitment to public service.
"Transparency was never the issue. Service has always been the goal," Martinez said. "With these donations, this matter is closed, and my focus remains on the work ahead."
