Multiracial Black Toronto-based Filmmaker Releases Short Film On Police Brutality
S For Story/10438140
TORONTO - s4story -- When a Black man is viciously assaulted by police outside their window, all of the guests at a dinner party seem to consider the attack unremarkable except for one.
A short film by multiracial Black Toronto-based filmmaker Richard B. Pierre (@afroflix) with funding from the Ontario Arts Council.
Starring: Richard Walters from Degrassi, Jamie Mac, Hanneke Talbot and Franckie Francois.
From a film studio dedicated to telling stories about diverse individuals, Afro Flix Inc. is pleased to announce the release of AN UNINVITED GUEST. Written, produced and directed by award-winning Toronto-based filmmaker Richard B. Pierre, AN UNINVITED GUEST is a short film that tackles the crimes perpetrated by police on the Black community.
In 2014, Pierre, a multiracial Black man, was moved to write AN UNINVITED GUEST after hearing a series of unfortunate events involving the police and the Black community. "As I watch these videos replay on a seemingly endless loop, I could so easily become numb to the horror and yet each time they play it's as fresh and real as if it had happened right in front of me," said Pierre. "As I watched these videos of cops killing Black people often in

broad daylight, I knew I needed to do something more than just get angry. I needed to do something that would provoke people and that is when I began thinking of this film."
Addressing such dark subject matter was challenging not only to write, but also to produce. Pierre states, "This project would not have been possible without their support so I would like to acknowledge funding support from the Ontario Arts Council, an agency of the Government of Ontario."
AN UNINVITED GUEST will screen at:
