A New World Record Is Coming: The Tallest Christmas Tree Ever Built, for America's 250th

Standing 250 feet tall and wrapped in over a million lights, the tree is being built by an independent team with no government or political ties

MARBLE FALLS, Texas - s4story -- In a country that often feels pulled in every direction, a small independent team is building something meant to bring everyone together: the tallest Christmas tree ever constructed, rising 250 feet above Lakeside Park in Marble Falls, Texas, in honor of America's 250th birthday.

The project, called The Glory Tree, carries no political affiliation and no government backing. It began when a group of people who believed America's 250th birthday deserved something extraordinary came together around that idea, and it has grown from there through the support of private backers who share that same belief: that a moment this significant deserves to be marked by something the whole country can be proud of, built by the people themselves rather than handed down from above.

"We wanted to build something that isn't red or blue, something that's just American," said a co-director of the project. "Christmas has always had a way of bringing people together, no matter what they believe or where they come from, and that's what this tree is meant to do."

At the heart of the project is a simple idea, that everyone deserves a place on the tree. Beginning this fall, the public will be able to claim a personalized ornament representing themselves, their family, their church, their school, or their business, with a single ornament able to stand for one person or for an entire congregation of thousands. The team's goal is to have one million people represented on the tree by Christmas.

"This isn't about buying a decoration," the co-director added. "It's about having a place. When that tree lights up, we want every kind of American looking up at it and seeing themselves in it."

The tree will also pursue the Guinness World Record for the tallest artificial Christmas tree ever built, aiming to surpass the current record of 236.5 feet, set in Colombo, Sri Lanka in 2016.

The lighting ceremony is planned for Thanksgiving weekend 2026 and will include live musical entertainment, alongside Marble Falls' beloved, annual Walk of Lights.
