HARTFORD, Conn. - s4story -- Crayloca Events unveils Noche de los Muertos, a bold, non-traditional Día de los Muertos showcase blending drag, burlesque, humor, culture, and glamorous artistry across two Connecticut nights. On October 17, the celebration lights up The Lady in downtown Hartford before heading underground on October 24 to 33 Golden Street in New London, an intimate music venue known for its edgy atmosphere.

Featuring drag and burlesque performers from Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New Jersey, Noche de los Muertos serves up campy drag, twisted high-glamour burlesque, vibrant costumes, and contemporary performance art rooted in Hispanic heritage. The production brings together artists whose personal connections to Hispanic culture create a spellbinding fusion of story, spectacle, tradition, and pop culture.

Featured talent includes burlesque artists Grimm Fatale and Rainbow Vice, alongside drag artists Crayloca, Meelz Diva, Juana B Ontop, and Stygian Midnight.

For these artists, the celebration is deeply personal.

Grimm Fatale's grandparents emigrated to the United States during the Mexican Revolution and worked hard to assimilate. "My mother never learned Spanish (unless you count cursing!), but she tried her best to introduce me to our heritage," Grimm says, reflecting on cultural erasure experienced by many immigrant families. A union organizer by day and "seductive socialist" by night, Grimm splits their time between the picket line and dance studio.

Born in Mexico and raised along the San Diego-Tijuana border, Rainbow Vice is a first-generation immigrant whose first language is Spanish. "Día de Muertos was always a big part of my life growing up, so excited to bring my sazón to stage." Rainbow brings the charisma of Selena and fierceness of María Félix to her provocative performances.

Known as the "Titi of Western Mass," Juana B Ontop was raised by her Puerto Rican grandmother and grew up speaking Spanish. Her work blends camp, comedy, cultura, and community activism, championing Latinx, LGBTQIA+, and working-class communities.

Crayloca Events founder and drag artist Crayloca, a second-generation Mexican American, proudly jokes, "Made in Mexico. Born in the USA!" After choosing not to speak Spanish as a child, Crayloca moved to Madrid in 2013, relearned the language, and reconnected with their heritage.

Noche de los Muertos celebrates culture and creativity where tradition meets fearless performance.
