Nola Blue Records to Release John Németh's Illinois Central in March 2027
S For Story/10699829
The 13th album from the six-time Blues Music Award winner arrives March 19
MEMPHIS, Tenn. & LANCASTER, Pa. - s4story -- John Németh emerges from an extensive health crisis with his music career intact and his sound sharpened. In an industry that squeezes independent artists, and an economy straining venues, touring musicians, and fans alike, it would have been easy for Németh to walk away. Instead, with Illinois Central, he digs deeper and reaches broader, teaming with Nashville GRAMMY winners Gary Nicholson and Colin Linden to deliver a comeback statement rooted in blues and American roots music for everyone.
Németh's résumé includes a long list of Blues Music Award nominations and wins, along with four vocal tracks on Elvin Bishop's GRAMMY-nominated album, The Blues Rolls On. A professional performing artist for nearly 25 years, he remains one of contemporary blues' most vital voices, fusing classic and new sounds into music that feels distinctly of the moment. A full album tour is currently being finalized in support of the release.

"Six years ago, John's label debut, Stronger Than Strong, showcased his remarkable spirit, and the years since have revealed a resilience that is nothing short of extraordinary," says Sallie Bengtson, President of Nola Blue Records. "Illinois Central is the next chapter—a collection of songs meant to be experienced live. John's excitement to share this music is contagious. All aboard the Illinois Central!"
"It took a lot of hard work and a whole lot of helping hands to get my engine back on the track," says Németh. "Baby, we are rolling and the voice is back! My new album, Illinois Central, is headed your way and so am I! Boom Shakalaka!"
"John Nemeth plows a wide field right through the middle of American music," observes Colin Linden. "His voice and harmonica are saturated in the blues, but he's such an imaginative and thoughtful musician that he pulls in so much more. When he sings 'Do You Want To Be Happy?' (or do you want to be right) you KNOW which one you want to be. And when he sings "My Old Friend The Blues" it carries the gravitas of someone who has sung, played and lived the blues for decades. John is your confidante. He is your empathist. He travels the road from the Delta to Chicagoland and to every place where the Blues reaches somebody's heart."
