SAN DIEGO - s4story -- For centuries, the rich textile tradition of Oaxaca has thrived, from its ancient roots in pre-Hispanic times to its evolution under Spanish influence. This cultural heritage has been passed down through generations, continually evolving to meet the needs and creative visions of local artisans. Now, an exciting collaboration is bringing Oaxacan textiles into the contemporary art world, bridging the past and present in a transformative new exhibition at Visions Museum of Textile Art (VMOTA) starting Saturday, May 10^th at 10 AM.

The project culminates in the highly anticipated exhibition Somos Voces de Otras Voces (We Are Voices of Other Voices), a collaboration between NADI (Ricardo Pinto and María Saldaña) and Colpaso Art Project, a contemporary art space based in Guadalajara, Jalisco. The exhibition that will be at VMOTA's Arts District Liberty Station location showcases the extraordinary work of the Zapotec artisans.

The exhibit will also feature traditional textile pieces. The pieces on display were created exclusively for this exhibition, which highlights the vibrant, evolving cultural identity of Oaxaca's textile traditions.

Somos Voces de Otras Voces will be on view at Visions Museum of Textile Art, showcasing a unique fusion of ancient craftsmanship and contemporary artistic innovation, making a powerful statement about the evolution of Oaxacan culture.
