Partnership with Forsyth Rotary Club Expands Access to Mental Health Resources

S For Story/10677890
CUMMING, Ga. - s4story -- Forsyth Community Clinic (FCC) is proud to announce its Mental Wellness Program, launching in December 2025. This much-needed initiative, with support from psychiatrist Dr. Lokesh, along with local counselors and a Master of Public Health student, Betsy Portugal, will primarily focus on anxiety and depression.  According to ADAA.org, only 24% of people dealing with anxiety seek help.  Forsyth Community Clinic aims to raise this percentage through expanded outreach and enhanced resources. The program is made possible through generous financial contributions from Rotary International and the Rotary Club of Forsyth County.

Clinic Director Evan Shoemake presented the new program to the Rotary Club of Forsyth County on November 13, 2025. "We are honored to develop this unique programming alongside Rotary of Forsyth to help address pervasive feelings of anxiety and depression," said Shoemake. "We hope to create a program that is open to all and gives everyone a chance to connect."  Rotary Club Foundation Chair, Denise Leeson added, "We are so pleased that our Rotary Foundation District grant will be used this year towards mental health. The partnership between the Rotary Club of Forsyth County and the Forsyth Community Clinic marks a significant step forward in expanding mental health awareness and support. The aspects of these new programs will touch many lives. Together, we're breaking stigma, opening doors, and reminding our community that help is here."
