A former pediatric surgeon, Turker penned the story to shine an insider's spotlight on the ills of the United States' healthcare system­ -- a biting message wrapped in a humorous capsule that makes it easy to swallow while offering a tasty glimpse of hope.

Since graduating residency in 1992, Turker has devoted himself to those who have less. From the Navajo reservation to Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru, Turker has reaped the rich rewards of giving back. He lives with his wife and two dogs in Portland and is currently working on his second novel.
