Rabun County Designated Waterfall Capital of Georgia

S For Story/10664300
CLAYTON, Ga. - s4story -- During the recent legislative session, Representative Victor Anderson of the 10th District sponsored a resolution designating Rabun County as the Waterfall Capital of Georgia. The resolution passed in both Georgia's House of Representatives and Senate. Rabun County resident Andrew Harris approached Rep. Anderson with the idea.

"It was an honor for me to present this resolution to recognize the natural beauty and resources of Rabun County," Rep. Anderson shared. "There are more waterfalls in Rabun County than in any other county in our state. People from throughout the state, country, and even from around the world come to visit these beautiful wonders. I also appreciate the commitment of residents and county leaders to protect and preserve these natural resources."

Rabun County has long been the premier destination in Georgia for outdoor adventures, year 'round. In addition to the vast forestlands surrounding their numerous waterfalls and hiking trails, Rabun County boasts rivers, lakes, and streams, where visitors and residents alike can enjoy white water rafting, boating, swimming, and fishing, among many other activities. The county is also home to three state parks, and a number of award-winning wineries and farm venues. As the State's Farm-to-Table Capital as well, there are plenty of exceptional dining options available in Rabun County's charming small towns, along with boutique shopping and gracious accommodations. With the rising popularity of waterfall hiking, the new designation further cements Rabun County's claims to being Georgia's premier outdoor adventure destination.
