"Ralph and Robort" by Nicholas Kasparis
An entertaining children's book about robots and anti-bullying
About the Book:
Ralph is a child genius and loves learning. There's just one tiny problem! Ralph is being bullied at school by a gang called 'the crew'. The bullying starts out with some mischievous classroom pranks, but ends up with the crew chasing Ralph home and throwing acorns at him! Even Ralph's only real friend, Jim Bob, becomes a little distant because he doesn't want to be targeted by the bullies.
All is not lost, as Ralph has a brilliant idea! He plans to make a robot from the junk that has been dumped at a nearby forest. Ralph wants to use the scrap to create the ultimate robot to teach those bullies a lesson they will never forget!
About the Author:
Nicholas Kasparis grew up in Clayhall, Essex and attended Gilbert Colvin Primary school and Caterham High School. After gaining 'A' Levels in English Literature, History & Media Studies, he completed a Film Studies degree at Southampton.

He has been a teacher for nearly 20 years. In that time, he's taught every age group at Primary and Secondary school, from 4-year olds to 18-year olds. He has also taught an adult creative writing course.
Currently, he's living in Romford, Essex, and do supply teaching at various Primary schools in his local area.
Excerpt from the book:
"Ralph walked along the forest path and there were no conkers being thrown. He breathed a sigh of relief. Maybe the bullies had got bored of following him home. This would be four days that Ralph hadn't been followed, and three days the crew had bolted out the school gates before him. They could easily have waited for Ralph on the corner, but they hadn't. Ralph felt safe. He casually walked out the forest and down a long road.
As Ralph walked across a side road, he heard the sound of pounding footsteps. He peered up the road and saw the crew charging towards him – led by Wesley. He was a neck ahead! Panicked, Ralph ran down the road towards his house. He felt the acorns and conkers ping and ricochet of his head, shoulders and the side of his face. Ralph could hear the insults – there was a chorus of "mop head" and "mustard boy" as he fumbled with the keys and slammed the door behind him."
