The Persian couple who's goal is to help their local LA community
PORTER RANCH, Calif. - s4story -- Shabnam RahbarVafaee and Pedram Sharokhi were inspired to take action after witnessing the growing number of individuals and families struggling to access basic necessities in her own community. Motivated by the conviction that food is a fundamental human right, Shabnam rallied local residents to join her in preparing and distributing meals. What began as a small neighborhood effort has since grown into a nationwide movement, uniting people from diverse backgrounds in the fight against hunger.
"Our work is about more than just providing food," said Shabnam Rahbar Vafaee, founder of the initiative. "We believe that everyone deserves to be treated with respect, regardless of their circumstances. A meal is not just nourishment—it's a message that you are seen, valued, and not alone."
She convinced her husband, Pedram Sharokhi to take initiative in starting this charitable event.

How the Program Works
The initiative operates through a network of local chapters in cities such as [insert city names], where volunteers gather weekly to cook and serve meals. Menus are carefully planned to provide balanced nutrition, often featuring fresh produce and wholesome ingredients donated by local businesses, farmers, and community members.
Recipients include single parents, families struggling to pay bills, veterans, and anyone living without stable housing. Meals are distributed at shelters, parks, and community centers, with volunteers trained to foster a welcoming and non-judgmental environment. No identification or proof of need is required—anyone who is hungry is welcome.
Community-Driven Impact
This work is powered by everyday people who want to make a difference. Volunteers range from high school students to retirees, all united by a shared commitment to kindness and social justice. Local businesses and organizations also play a vital role, donating food, supplies, and kitchen space to support the cause.

By raising awareness and advocating for systemic change, Shabnam hopes to help build a country where no one has to worry about their next meal.
"We dream of a future where everyone has a place at the table," Shabnam said. "Until then, we will keep showing up, one meal at a time."
