Revelation Begins With Award Winning Author Receiving Meaningful Praise From a Known Name Writer

COURTENAY COMOX, British Columbia - s4story -- With news of the author's recent awards circulating, his inbox had been buzzing with offers. One subject line in particular caught his eye. "New Year Greetings From A Fellow Author." It was followed by, "Hi James Allan Krause, PhD, I'm Percival Everett, an author." Everett had recently won a coveted Audie Award for the book James and also a prestigious Pulitzer Prize, among other distinctions.

The email was laden with acclaim for Krause's first audiobook, Wetion (2nd edn), then an entrant in the 2026 Audie Awards. It ended with an invitation, "If you're open to it, I'd enjoy staying in touch as a fellow writer and creator working across genres and forms."

The Audie Awards are the Oscars of audiobooks. The competition provides opportunities for independent artists to showcase creations. This appealed to Krause, who had devoted two decades to producing audiobooks of a hybrid style - combining full length novels with ten scene plays enhanced with original songs.

A Reader's Favorite review of his debut work spurred optimism when expressing "This high-quality production makes every moment feel alive and cinematic, positioning Wetion as a top contender for the 2026 Audie Award for Best Production and Sound Design."

Never-the-less, the author could not afford being blinded by praise. Krause tried to confirm the email address actually belonged to the acclaimed author. While awaiting verification, he continued communicating with the commender and elsewhere, learned more about Everett.

In quick succession, three events followed. A response from the real Percival Everett clarified the other emails WERE NOT from him. Then, Krause was notified Wetion WAS NOT a finalist for the 2026 Audie Awards. But altering the narrative would be The Independent Press' Distinguished Favorite award for a "cross genre" audiobook. This instilled an awareness of the deep parallels between the events and renewed a sense of faith in the author's overall pursuits.

Believing it is as much about the journey as destination, the quest continued. Krause's second audiobook, The Pilot and the Parrot became an entrant in the 2027 Audie Awards competition. Second of The Trilogy: Looking Back, Here and Now, Searching Forward, characters from the illustrious Forrester clan appear again in action further espousing the power of communication. And if mirrors could talk, they would surely be cast as mindful characters in the 15 hours of drama that unfolds. Contemporary autofiction, this new enhanced audiobook was intended for audiences given to reflect.

Created on the unceded traditional territory of the K'ómoks First Nation on Vancouver Island, Canada, Krause's works are available through Audible, Apple, Amazon, Spotify, Kobo, Libro.fm, Author's Republic and others.
