"Caught Between Worlds: Tom, Mikhail and Alexander the Great" takes readers, young and old, on an incredible journey of grief, intrigue, bravery, and danger
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - s4story -- Author Therese Tappouni's latest book, Caught Between Worlds: Tom, Mikhail and Alexander the Great, is a historically-based adventure set in Iraq in 1980.
The story is "set against the backdrop of Iraq gearing up for war with Iran." Young Tom O' Hara relocates to Iraq with his father John, an American businessman, following the death of his mother.
Both still both in grief, Tom's father is kidnapped by Iranian terrorists. Tom's school mate and best friend Mikhail bravely decide to rescue him. Inspired by Alexander the Great, they follow the ancient king of Macedonia's legendary route to Gaugamela.
A master storyteller, Tappouni, intwines a host of intriguing and vibrant characters in Caught Between Worlds: Tom, Mikhail and Alexander the Great to assist in the dangerous quest, including a time-traveling Alexander and his aides.

"The story is fiction, but the various factions and the political ramifications are real," noted Tappouni who lives in Jacksonville, Fla. "Obviously, there's parts of me, little small parts, that are embedded into the chronicle of the characters' journey."
The 250-page Caught Between Worlds: Tom, Mikhail and Alexander the Great, published by Book Baby of Pennsauken, NJ, is one of Tappouni's seven published works. Four of these received major awards.
The author's connection to the Arab culture came from her Iraqi husband, whom she met in college, and his family. She dove into Iraqi culture and cooking as if she was born to it. Tappouni became familiar and admiring of the Christian Iraqis who moved to Baghdad to blend in with the crowd.
She was in Iraq 40 years ago as America was negotiating the release of American hostages from Iran and Iraq was preparing to face Iran in a bloody confrontation.
Caught Between Worlds: Tom, Mikhail and Alexander the Great will soon be globally available in paperback (ISBN:9781098310394) and is now available at https://store.bookbaby.com/book/Caught-Between-Worlds1 and www.theresetappouni.com
