Asian-American Woman's New Memoir Offers Raw & Real Exposé of "Personal Life Journey through Transcultural Poverty, Privilege and Passion"
CARDIFF BY THE SEA, Calif. - s4story -- Mai Kim Le, an Asian-American refugee, wife and mother of 3, has released her first book, Worlds Apart: My Personal Life Journey through Transcultural Poverty, Privilege, and Passion – a deeply personal and beautifully written narrative about being plunged into a new culture as a child and daring to emerge as a unique presence in an adopted society.
Mai's accidental wanderlust around the world due to personal, professional, and educational aspirations took her from the banks of the Mekong Delta to the west and east coasts of the United States.
After starting her journey traveling by boat from war-torn Vietnam to the U.S. as a toddler and making it to Bowdoin College and Princeton University as an adult, Mai's story offers a deeply honest reflection on the power of human resilience and love. Mai's story is far from your typical immigrant story, highlighting both challenges overcome and those still facing the author today.

This memoir blends an action-adventure immigrant tale with a surprisingly complicated love story. It's a love story with the world, friends, lovers, children, and most importantly the author herself. By healing her painful past and re-imagining new relationships with her family and colleagues, the author reveals just how difficult yet ultimately transformative life in a new culture can be.
"No matter your background or where you started in life, we all encounter challenges we have to overcome," says Worlds Apart author, Mai Kim Le. "I hope my story allows people of all backgrounds to reflect on their own lives, find closure and move on knowing they are not alone."
With reflections on love, sex, identity, mental health, war, poverty and so much more, Mai's "open book" – literally and figuratively – opens the door for others to look deeper into themselves and their relationship to the world around them.
