AAWTA will unite leaders across trucking, logistics, supply chain, education and workforce development on September 17, 2026.

STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. — August 30, 2026 — The African American Women Trucking Association (AAWTA) will host its inaugural Building the Future Workforce Summit on Thursday, September 17, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., followed by a Leadership Networking Reception. The event will take place at Stone Ridge Event Center, 1750 Stone Ridge Drive, Suite A, Stone Mountain, Georgia 30083.

Presented through the AAWTA Education & Industry Workforce Collaborative, the summit will connect employers, educators, transportation professionals, workforce agencies, entrepreneurs, community leaders, students and job seekers under the theme "Building Pathways. Creating Opportunities. Driving Change." CDL Life will serve as the Official Media Partner.

The summit was created to help close the gap between industry needs and workforce readiness by connecting employers and educators with individuals seeking training, careers, resources and business opportunities.

"Building the future workforce requires collaboration, access and action," said Nicole "Nikki" Ward, President and Founder of AAWTA. "This summit brings opportunity providers into the same room with the communities that need access to them."

Featured keynote speakers include Nicole "Nikki" Ward; Dr. Kimberly K. Estep, Southeast Regional Vice President for Western Governors University and Chancellor of WGU Tennessee; and Kristin Hall of BedRock Consulting Services.

Featured panelists include Malcolm Smith, Founder and CEO of the National Dump Truck Association; Justin Roberson, Business Retention and Expansion Coordinator for Decide DeKalb; and Jerry DeVivo, Enterprise Sales Manager for 160 Driving Academy. Additional speakers will be announced.

Attendees will experience industry panels, interactive roundtables, educational breakout rooms and an Exhibitor and Resource Expo. Topics will include workforce access, entrepreneurship, business credit, profitability, career advancement, reentry opportunities, compliance, technology, driver wellness and supply-chain careers. CDL drivers who attend will receive a complimentary 12-month AAWTA DrivePro Membership.
