Aviation Workforce Shortages Threaten Growth and Capacity Across Canada

Report provided to senior officials at Transport Canada highlights looming talent gaps across Canada's air sector

CALGARY, Alberta - s4story -- Noble Consulting today announced it will host an invite-only Aviation Talent Roundtable to bring together Canadian aviation leaders to address one of the sector's most pressing strategic challenges: the future of aviation talent and workforce readiness. The roundtable will provide an industry forum to discuss workforce competency needs, talent attraction and retention, and succession planning as the sector evolves.

Canada's aviation and aerospace workforce is facing significant pressure from demographic change and evolving skill demands. According to a report provided to senior officials at Transport Canada on November 8, 2023, Canada is expected to face a shortfall of approximately 42,000 to 55,000 aviation workers between 2025 and 2035, largely driven by retirements and labor market dynamics — highlighting a critical need for coordinated workforce solutions.

"Canada's aviation workforce is undergoing a generational transition that requires a coordinated industry response," said Eddy Atausi, VP, Talent & Workforce Development at Noble Consulting. "This roundtable will focus on practical strategies for sustainable talent pipelines, targeted developmental pathways, and ensuring the next generation of aviation professionals are ready to step into safety-critical and operational roles."

Showcasing the Workplace Cognitive Competence Program (WCCP)

A core agenda of the roundtable will be the presentation and industry review of Noble Consulting's Workplace Cognitive Competence Program (WCCP) — a structured workforce development initiative designed to help aviation and aerospace organizations attract, engage, and retain early-career professionals with strong core competencies.

WCCP was developed to support:
  • Succession planning across regulated and operationally critical roles in aviation
  • Intergenerational knowledge transfer between experienced workers and new talent
  • Workforce competency development aligned with industry needs and evolving standards
  • Retention of emerging professionals who bring adaptability and fresh perspectives
By gathering direct feedback from aviation leaders, Noble Consulting aims to ensure the program is responsive to real-world operational requirements, regulatory considerations, and the long-term resilience needs of Canada's aviation workforce.

Roundtable Details
  • In-Person Roundtable: Wednesday, January 14, 2026 — Calgary, AB
  • Virtual Roundtable: Tuesday, January 20, 2026 — 11:30 AM MST
Participation is by invitation only, with a select group of aviation stakeholders invited to ensure high‑impact dialogue and actionable insights.
