New novel "Atlantis: Children of the Gods" re-examines humanity's oldest legends

LONDON - s4story -- A new historical adventure novel aims to re-explore Plato's legendary story through a lens rarely applied to it; that of the Bible's apocryphal or "forbidden" books.

Told across two generations, 'Atlantis: Children of the Gods' brings Plato's lost continent to life in this darkly funny epic tale, richly imagined and alive with gods, monsters, and myth.

While it stands as an introduction to those unfamiliar with the Greek philosopher's allegorical tale of the woman who seduced a god, the novel was inspired by dozens of ancient sources, including those found among the Dead Sea Scrolls.

London-based author B.D.Stockman has studied myths and legends for almost three decades, and has published the book in partnership with New Generation Publishing.

"Like many others, I've always been fascinated by Atlantis, and the idea that our history might be older than our current understanding of it," Stockman says. "As our technology and archaeological understanding improves, the frontiers of humanity's past keep being pushed further back in time, but more importantly, Atlantis is fertile ground for storytelling."

Combining Plato's tale with arcane mythology, channelled material, modern shamanism and the Bible's apocryphal writings, the novel is a historical mystery, complete with extensive notes to separate fact from fiction.

In an ever-more uncertain world, the themes of Atlantis are more pertinent than ever; our connection to the planet, rising sea-levels, belief, and the taking of power, no matter the cost. This cautionary tale has never been more relevant.
