Mentorship is one of the most effective relationship-based supports for young people. Research shows that youth with mentors are more likely to attend college, earn higher lifetime income, and experience greater economic mobility. Mentoring programs like Big Brothers Big Sisters also deliver strong returns on investment through long-term community benefits.
Drawing from personal experience, Sukhum shared:
"I've experienced the power of mentoring from every angle—personally, professionally, and in the communities we serve. More than 25 years ago, I was matched with a mentor through Big Brothers Big Sisters, and that relationship helped shape who I am today. Every new mentor creates a ripple of hope and possibility."
