~ Boston, MA - As the end of the year approaches, the city of Boston is gearing up for its annual First Night celebration on December 31, 2025. This highly anticipated event will bring together people from all over the city to ring in the new year with music, food, and fireworks. In order to ensure a smooth and safe experience for attendees, organizers are encouraging people to use alternative modes of transportation such as walking, biking, or taking public transit.
For those looking to bike around the city, information on Bluebikes, the regional bike share service, can be found on their website. Additionally, information on the MBTA can be found online. The MBTA advises riders to purchase a round-trip ticket instead of a one-way ticket for a faster return trip.
In preparation for First Night Boston 2026, several parking restrictions will be in place throughout Wednesday on various streets in Back Bay. These restrictions are necessary for logistical and public safety needs. The affected streets include Cambridge Street (south side), Arlington Street (both sides), Atlantic Avenue (east side), Beacon Street (both sides), Blagden Street (both sides), Boylston Street (north side and both sides), Charles Street (west side and west side of Charles Street South), Court Street (east side), and Tremont Street (both sides).
