s4story -- Capitol Markets, a Florida-based news site that reports on stock trades disclosed by members of Congress and senior executive-branch officials, published an analysis on Sept. 28 comparing officials who concentrated their 2026 purchases in a few companies with those who spread them across dozens of stocks. Seven officials bought 30 or more different stocks this year with no single stock above 14 percent of their buying. Six of the seven trail the S&P 500 on the site's same-dollars measure. The exception is the President.

The analysis follows Nancy Pelosi, who disclosed purchases in seven companies this year, with about 80 percent of the dollars in Bloom Energy and Intel. Her disclosed trades have returned 25.4 percent, against 9.3 percent for the same dollars in the S&P 500 on the same dates. She ranks second among the 39 officials on the site's year-to-date leaderboard, behind the President.

On Sept. 7, the day the President posted about the Canadian jet maker Bombardier and named Gulfstream, the newsroom published a comparison of the posts with his disclosed trades in Boeing and in Gulfstream's parent company. The newsroom has published more than 20 analyses and investigations drawn from the public record.

"A filing lists what an official bought. It does not say whether the purchase beat the market or touched a committee the official sits on," said Matthew, founder of Capitol Markets. "Setting each trade beside a benchmark and a source document is the work."

Filings are collected from the U.S. House Clerk, the Senate's electronic disclosure system and the Office of Government Ethics. Each trade is matched to its company, priced against market data and scored against the S&P 500. The site's editorial standards state that every profile links the underlying filing for each disclosed trade.
